The second-highest peak in Bulgaria rises sharply above the marble ridges of Pirin National Park. It is one of the country’s most dramatic summit walks, especially in clear summer conditions. [1][3]

Vihren is Pirin’s highest summit and Bulgaria’s second-highest peak, a sharp limestone pyramid rising above the Banderitsa valley.[1] The classic ascent from Vihren Hut is steep and mostly on broken rock, with snow patches often lingering into early summer.[4] In clear weather, the summit offers sweeping views towards Kutelo, Koncheto ridge and the marble north face.

Visitors usually experience it via gateways like Bansko, Dobrinishte or the Sandanski side valleys.

Koncheto is a narrow, airy limestone ridge between peaks Banski Suhodol and Kutelo, secured with a cable in its most exposed section.[4] The traverse combines steep scree, short scrambling and constant exposure, recommended only for experienced, sure-footed hikers in stable weather. Views drop abruptly to the cirques of Banski Suhodol and Golem Kazan, dramatizing Pirin’s alpine character.
