Kalofer is a foothill town strongly associated with the Central Balkan and the start of major mountain routes. It is a practical base with cultural value, even if it is not as scenic as its surroundings.

Buzludzha Monument Ridge
The Buzludzha Monument stands on a grassy ridge of the Balkan Mountains, its abandoned concrete form overlooking the Rose Valley and Thracian Plain. Raiskoto Praskalo Waterfall & Ray Hut
Raiskoto Praskalo is a narrow, 124.5‑metre waterfall dropping from Botev’s northern cliffs above Ray Hut in the Central Balkan National Park. A marked trail from the Panitsite area near Kalofer climbs through forest and meadows to the hut, with the waterfall in full view only in higher sections. Snow and high water can make early spring crossings tricky.
